The 129th edition of the Albany Agricultural Show attracted thousands of people last week, with visitors of all ages turning out in Centennial Park for the much-loved annual event.

The heavens opened early on Friday morning, but the wet weather was short-lived and the clouds had cleared by mid-morning, with crowds pouring into the show grounds in steady numbers as the day wore on for plenty of carnival fun.

The ever-popular sideshow alley again proved a favourite, and stayed open late on Friday after the much-anticipated annual fireworks show, with adrenaline junkies able to stick around well after dark to take a spin on some fast-paced rides.

The livestock tents had southern WA’s best on show including poultry, cattle and alpacas, with owners and breeders travelling in from around the Great Southern and beyond to present their best animals in the show ring.

In the Western Pavilion, the winners of the show’s extensive competition catalogue were on show, with prizes awarded in a range of categories, from baking and knitting to flowers and photography.

Visitors could stop in for a chat with local businesses in the trade pavilion, or listen to live music by a local line-up over the two-day show, and were treated to a live demonstration in the cooking section by Pepper and Salt chef Silas Masih on Friday.
