Firefighters have shut Brand Highway — north of Gingin — as they battle a raging bushfire that erupted on Monday.
The fire was reported in Moore River National Park near the intersection of Brand Highway and Red Gully Rd just before midday.
Multiple fire trucks and water bombers are currently trying to douse flames.
A watch and act warning was in place just before 1pm, with the fire moving fast in a northerly direction.
Anyone in the area is urged to leave now if they plan to do so.
“If you plan to stay and defend ensure you are mentally and physically prepared, with protective clothing and an independent water supply,” the department of fire and emergency services said.
“Make final preparations now and start patrolling your property to put out spot fires.”
Brand Highway has been closed in the area, with commuters urged to avoid the area.
The Shire of Gingin is managing the fire.
