The identity of an Albany man accused of inducing a child to prostitution, possessing a controlled weapon and cultivating a prohibited plant has been revealed in his first court appearance.
Shayne Hans Griskonis appeared in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday, charged with inducing a child to act as a prostitute, cultivating a prohibited plant and possessing a controlled weapon.
It is alleged the 49-year-old induced a child to act as a prostitute in the Perth suburb of Rivervale on March 9, and on May 26 in Spencer Park was allegedly found to be both cultivating a prohibited plant and in possession of a controlled weapon.
Magistrate Andrew Maughan read all three charges to Mr Griskonis, who confirmed he understood them.
The type of prohibited plant he is alleged to have been growing was not revealed during the brief appearance, nor was the nature of the controlled weapon.

Mr Griskonis did not enter pleas to any of the charges against him.
He was represented by lawyer Jamie Hodgkinson in his first court appearance on the charges, who requested to have the indictable charge of inducing a child to act as a prostitute sent directly to a committal mention hearing.
Mr Maughan granted the request, and set a committal mention hearing date for August 27 in the Albany Magistrates Court, with Mr Griskonis’ remaining charges of cultivating a prohibited plant and possessing a controlled weapon set for mention on the same date.
