Roger Cook has choked back tears while recalling his family’s reaction to an “emphatic” Labor win, and has thanked WA for trusting him as Premier.
“It was pride and love and I had the opportunity at home to give them a hug,” Mr Cook said on Sunday morning.
Mr Cook was greeted by a smattering of applause as he arrived at his local cafe in Wellard after Labor’s second biggest election victory.

Bateman has been declared for Labor this morning, with MP Kim Giddens’ re-election meaning the party has won at least 41 seats.
“I think this is an emphatic victory for WA labor,” Mr Cook said.
“It’s a vindication of the strong Government that we have provided for the people of Western Australia. It’s a vindication and a strong endorsement of our plan, our plan to keep the state the strongest economy in the country.”
More to come.
