Trains on the Midland Line have been cancelled following a serious crash on the tracks in Guildford.
The crash — located on Meadow Street at Great Eastern Highway — was reported by Main Roads at 4.05pm on Wednesday and has resulted in the cancellation of trains between Bayswater and Midland.
A truck and train collided at the Meadow Street railway crossing, according to police.
Eyewitnesses say a tipper truck with two trailers was travelling east along Great Eastern Highway when it turned left at the traffic lights at Meadow Street and reportedly ran a red light.
The truck then entered the Meadow Street railway crossing and went through the boom gate as the train approached, which then hit the truck’s second trailer, according to reports.
A bobcat was thrown from the second trailer upon impact, which landed upside down on the tracks, and eyewitnesses say another part of the truck was dislodged which hit a nearby four wheel drive.
Early reports from police say there are no life-threatning injuries, but inquiries are ongoing.
Meadow Street has also been closed in both directions and emergency services are on the scene.
Transperth warned the incident is also causing delays on the Airport, Ellenbrook and Fremantle train lines.
“Train replacement buses are being organised between Bayswater and Midland. Please allow extra travelling time and be aware that replacement buses may not connect with timetabled bus and train services,” Transperth said.
Traffic is heavy leading up to the incident site and Main Roads has requested motorists to seek an alternate route if planning to travel in the area.
